Humility

Humility is the first virtue I chose as one of the basic and guiding principles of my life. It is very much common and we could always hear this words. We could even give examples of someone we know that posses this kind of virtue.

What is Humility?

Humility is the term which comes from the Latin word humilitas, a noun related to the adjective humilis which mean humble.

Humility addresses intrinsic self worth. It emphasized in the realm of religious practice and ethics where the notion is often made more precise. It is the quality of being modest or humble. It is the absence of pride. Having the virtue of humility enables us to believe that we are not better of the other person.

Bible Verses about Humility

But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble." James 4:6

The fear of the LORD is the instruction for wisdom, And before honor comes humility. Proverbs 15:33

You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time. 1 Peter 5:5-6

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:3-11

And whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.  Matthew 23:12

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. James 4:6

For whosever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 14:11

By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life. Proverbs 22:4

He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love. Ephesians 4:2

Humility is very much important in our life because humility enables us to be submissive, patient, gentle and long-suffering. Humility allow us to do the will of GOD especially His commandments.
